There are two ways to work in wood:
Remain woodcut a high-pressure technique in which are to be printed and places where the paper should be plain, the wood is cut away.
Wood engraving a gravure printing are cut at the lines in the plate. The plate is rubbed with the color and after that the surface wiped off so that only in the recessed lines, the color remains.
In linoleum both types are to imitate, not so accurate because very thin webs be easily eroded.
Through several plates also multicolored prints are possible.
